Day 75!

Day 75 January 13th, 2024 The day came and went fast. I need to take a moment to reflect on how stupid this is. I've come too far to stop. It is a part of my daily things to do. I never imagined getting past a week, let alone to day 75. I care more about what is coming next, day 100 in twenty-five glorious days. Until then, here is the last bunch of deleted scenes. Place your bets As silly as the line is, this should have been in the movie. Lori sets up the fight as you see in many trailers the Freddy vs Jason line of dialogue that says place your bets. Freddy also throws some insults at Jason. It shows that this movie led up to their battle in the real world, but for editing purposes, it was removed and takes away from the sole purpose of the final fight by having Freddy look stupid as hell when he sees Jason in the film in the real world. The movie has been and will always be about Freddy vs Jason, not Lori and Will vs Freddy vs Jason. Kiss from Kia Kia deems Linderman heroic and

Day 74

Day 74 January 12th, 2024 Another snow day! And I am feeling the tired side effect from the treatment yesterday. I woke up at 7am ready to go to work and I wasn’t feeling it. Heck, the roads looked fine but I listened to my body and called off work. I also did the dumb thing and helped plow the driveway. I am feeling that after the fact. Onto the scenes! No more Medicine This scene is stupid. It’s Freeberg trying to do his best Freddy impersonation telling the at alert comatose people that they can relax because Freddy’s got it now and you see him dumping the hypnocil down the drain. Dumb sequence it was better just showing him with the crazed look pouring the hypnocil down the drain like they used. I would have walked out of the film if this was the sequence they used. Linderman’s apology This scene was a heartfelt apology from Linderman to Kia for insulting her at the party. Then he admits he had a crush on her. Keeping this scene in would have made his death more meaningful because

Day 73.

Day 73 January 11th, 2024 Well, the IV treatment was five hours of my life that I’ll never get back. The nurses were nice and did a wonderful job. It took two tries though to get the IV in. I spent my time playing Cult of the Lamb. I forgot my headphones so I couldn’t get the watch in while I was going through that long boring process. The deleted scenes. Eels This scene shows the audience two things. I previously spoke about this scene because not only does it answer the questions of where the eels came from but also why it looks like Mark has shit on his face. He puked up the eels after the Freddy version of his brother commented on talking with his mouth full. The CG eels in this scene were okay and there was no point for this scene to be in the film. As mentioned before they could have cleaned up Mark’s face in post if they knew they were not going to use it. Splitting up Just what we did not need a scene where they decided to split up at Westin Hills because the place was too big.

*72

Day 72 January 10th, 2024 It is starting to become quite the chore of watching this movie and finding things to write about. I believe I went into this quickly and ignored what some people told me. I’ve been taking things slowly with the writing because I am re-adjusting to the non-holiday work schedule. But I am pondering just writing on event days. Which to me would be day write up to date 75. Then touch base on days 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, and 355 til the end of the project. I do plan on wrapping up the deleted scenes for days 73, 74, and 75. Instead of focusing on a scene, I will break up what’s left. I also have the first dose of Ocrevus tomorrow which has been on my mind. I’ve never done an IV treatment outside of the steroid treatments for MS episodes back in the day. I’ve been off medicine for over six months and I am thankful that I haven’t had an episode. I have noticed some leg and arm tremors but they come and go. My speech hasn’t slurred much but my cognitive memory is

Selfish People

Day 71 January 9th, 2024 We are in a snowstorm and people are selfish. I also enjoy how people are willing to risk their lives to watch a subpar movie on a snowy day. Stay home and be safe. Oh and the store will be open tomorrow you don’t need to buy all the damn milk and bread for a day or two max. This viewing started a little after the new day began because we are stuck here for one person. Oh well, at least they got to escape reality and enjoy a good film. I hate how the movie weaves between the reality of the film and the dream world. It does it better than most Elm Street films but it doesn’t show that Kia, Mark, Freeberg, Lori, or Blake fell asleep. But they are nice enough to establish that Gibb passed out?!? I get why it was done. I think it keeps the viewer interested in what is going on and guess if the sequence is film reality or a dream.  Either way, it gets annoying fast.

Showing my age

Day 70 January 7th, 2024 Today I was zoned in on Mark’s arc yet again. Why does he think he brother committed suicide? He admits that his brother told him about a dream with Freddy because it was the “same” one Lori had. Plus his brother also told him that fear gives Freddy his powers. But yet he doesn’t understand why his brother’s obituary was blacked out.  You would think that Mark would have realized with the blacked out obituaries that Freddy was how his brother died. I know I’ve talked about this before, but the more I watch the more that I understand that his role was the most important one of the film. I am also curious to how Mark ended up in Westin Hills.  I do like the nod to the original elm street with the bars on the windows at Mark’s house.  Do his parents know he escaped or do they not live in that house anymore?  Oh well these are the topics I dwell on.

69 Dude!

Day 69 Dude! January 7th, 2024 This will be the shortest of the posts. 31 days until Day 100!!! Happy Haunting Oh, I did watch the movie if that is what you came here to see if I still am watching this or lying about my viewings. Pretty sure the misleading title will get people to think that I am writing steamy fan fic.

Editing Woes

Day 68 January 6th 2024 Poor editing Today’s topic comes on two fronts, the movie and my lack thereof editing skills. I will touch on myself with why I am calling myself out. Apparently, I still think it is 2023 and not 2024. I am being told to leave out apparently, but I am not because it to me, fits what I am saying well. I also need to spend more time editing before I post. Sometimes I will elaborate more on what I meant or flesh out my thoughts better.  In terms of the movie, there is one sequence that had the worst editing of the film and that was Mark’s death. Where did the eels come from and why does it look like Mark has shit on his face before Freddy kills him. A deleted scene explained where both came from. Spoiler Alert if you cared, Mark vomits out the eels in the dream sequence and that would explain where they came from and why it looks like Mark has shit on his face. It is vomit, not shit.  I also blame the editors for this specific detail, they could have cleaned up M

Another day another…

Day 67 January 5th, 2024 The movie was watched yet again and I feel I am starting to become more fixated on Kia’s death. Unless I am missing something she didn’t break any rules of horror movies. I know she died to move the plot forward but why. Her death to me was more impactful because she went through the whole journey of the film only to die with less than ten minutes of the film remaining.  Linderman dying had no impact on me because it was clearly established near the end that smoking that j meant his time was coming to an end.  Oh well, she almost got to the end. It would have made more sense to keep her alive and either her, Will, or Lori die first in the sequel.

Order 66

Day 66 January 4th, 2024 Well, I was able to post last night's viewing on Letterboxd around an hour or so after I posted the blog. The more I watch the movie, the more I question more and more as to why this was the script they settled on. To me, there are more things wrong with the movie than what they got right. Does that make it a bad movie? That is a question left for the audience to decide. I will admit that this is not a movie for everyone and if this was your first foray into Freddy or Jason, I am truly sorry. I would hope that this movie would have expanded curiosities to see the movies that played a huge inspiration in making this film. To me, that would be any Friday the 13th movie that takes place after Part 3. For Freddy fans you only need to watch one movie , A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 3: Dream Warriors. You could watch the other Freddy movies, but the beginning of the film spoils the end to I believe Elm Street parts 4 and 5 while loosely touching on Parts 1,2,6 a

Day 65

Day 65 January 3rd, 2024 The day, Letterboxd died? Currently at the time of writing the site and app are down. I am still watching the movie but if the site is not back up and running by Midnight, then the past 65 days have been for nothing. In good faith to me means logging the film on the day that you watched it as well as watching the movie. Will this be the end if this is still down beyond my posting time according to my time zone? Technically no. I see it as I would have until 2 AM to post the film for the day due to California Time. I could honestly go later than that due to Hawaii time because they are four hours behind my current time zone.  Am I having an internal debate over time zones to make sure I get my day logged for the Calendar date of January 3rd, I think so. Either way, we shall see what happens. If this is how everything ends, well I gave it the ole college try. Time will tell and the only way you will know if this is still a thing is if there is a day 66 post. 100

Day 64

Day 64 January 2nd, 2024 Another sped up watching while I was working. Honestly, I should have watched the film at normal speed because I was stuck in a side stand popping popcorn for most of my day. I guess you could say it passed sometime during the long boring shift, but not enough time. I could have watched the movie at a slower .5 speed and turned the film into a 3-hour event film. At that point, it would be safe to say that I’ve lost my mind. Hell, I could have watched the movie six more times on 2x and that would have finished my week off, but that is not how this works. Stay tuned for that epic watch because it is going to happen.

Day 63

Day 63 January 1st 2024 We started the year just how I ended the year, watching Freddy vs Jason. I only have 304 viewings left. That seems crazy and is crazy. They were right in the comments that it takes a special type of person to finish a challenge such as this. While it sounds super easy on paper, watch the same movie once a day for a year. It isn’t that easy. The first few days are the easiest but by the time you hit the end of the last day of the first week, it starts to take a small toll on you mentally. Week two is when the fun begins. In the second week, you start to fit it into your daily routine. Between life’s routine commitments and the lack of hours in the day, the struggle becomes real. There have been countless days that I get all good to go for bed and then it dawned on me that I haven’t watched the film yet. Then I’d stretch my day just to keep my commitment to actually watching the film instead of lying. Which leads me to this topic. Logging the film in good faith. O
