Monthly Breakdown

367 days. 12 months. Each one felt different. Here is what to expect from each stretch, with links to browse by month.

November 2023 — The Beginning

Days 1–30. Everything is new. The movie is still a movie. You notice things for the first time. The curiosity is genuine. The project feels fun, even exciting. This does not last.

December 2023 — The Holidays

Days 31–61. The novelty wears off faster than expected. Watching the same movie every night during the holidays creates a strange parallel life. Family does not understand. Neither do you.

January 2024 — The Routine

Days 62–92. Winter sets in and so does the routine. The viewing becomes mechanical. The writing starts carrying more weight than the watching. Something shifts.

February 2024 — The Middle Distance

Days 93–121. Too deep to quit, too far from the end to see it. The dread before pressing play becomes a nightly companion. You start noticing things nobody should notice.

March 2024 — The Turn

Days 122–152. The writing becomes the real project. The movie becomes the cost of doing business. Small revelations still happen. The blog finds its voice.

April 2024 — Halfway to Halloween

Days 153–182. The irony of this month is not lost on a movie theater manager. The midpoint arrives with no fanfare. You just keep going.

May 2024 — Past the Middle

Days 183–213. More than halfway done. The dread is now a permanent feature. But so is a strange attachment to the routine. Stockholm syndrome, maybe.

June 2024 — Summer

Days 214–243. Everyone else is watching new summer movies. You are watching the same movie from 2003. The contrast is brutal and occasionally funny.

July 2024 — The Home Stretch

Days 244–274. The end starts to feel possible. Small discoveries still happen, which feels unreasonable after 250 viewings. The writing gets looser.

August 2024 — Three Hundred

Days 275–305. Three hundred days of the same movie. The light at the end of the tunnel might just be Freddy's boiler room. The finish line is visible now.

September 2024 — Halloween Season

Days 306–335. The annual Halloween viewing list begins, but this year it hits different. Horror feels personal now. The project bleeds into everything.

October 2024 — The End

Days 336–367. The final month. Halloween night is Day 366. October 31 is Day 367. It ends the way it has to end.

November 14, 2023. Day 15! We are fifteen days away from hitting 30 days!!! To bring everyone up to speed, I am toying with ideas for bringing this project to the public. I will still post on threads for a bit longer and return to just making notes. My last post about this on threads will be on day 30. I've even spoken with someone about making this a book; honestly, that is what I want to do. It allows me to keep my writing without editing my thoughts and randomness. I enjoy the mix of telling stories of my life, passing along some wisdom I hope, and the randomness of what I keep finding. Day 23

November 22nd 2023  Day Twenty Three has arrived. Does Will Know About Freddy? I feel comfortable saying he did not know about Freddy until Jason came to Elm Street. He was only quarantined because he witnessed Lori’s mom being murdered. It was never established either that he had any prior knowledge. There is a line of dialogue in which he ruined our pasts. Lori says that near the end of the movie. What is being held back concerning their past? Given her father is the hypno drug pusher, Lori would never know of Freddy. Is their past Lori’s mom dying? Were they the last victims of Freddy, and that’s why he went after her mom. Was Will accusing Lori’s dad of murdering the event that ruined their past? The movie never fleshes out that plot point. It is never implied that the main cast, except for Mark and those covering up the crimes, had knowledge of Freddy. I still do believe that everything was blamed on Freddy in the town! Day 24

November 23rd, 2023. Day 24 is not the what-if day; it reflects life. Thanksgiving with Freddy vs Jason. Happy 136th Birthday to Frankenstein's Monster and The Mummy, Boris Karloff. It also happens to be my niece Ivy's birthday. Today is about reflection while I watch FVJ. I do wish I had a better relationship with my nieces. I partly blame myself because I expect them to behave when they come to the house and do not. So I lose my cool quickly because I hate hearing the running indoors from the basement. It also doesn't help that they have a predetermined opinion of you courtesy of their mother. But that is another conversation that will not be a thing in this blog. I'm reflecting on when I lost my cool and got upset. They like to run around the house, and I have framed autographs over the years. With them running around, they fall off the basement walls, and frames break. Granted, they are cheap frames, but to me, their blatant negligence of other people's propert...
