Road trip?!?

 Day 158

April 5th, 2024

Today, we make our long-awaited return to Elm Street.

The reason for referring to it as a long-awaited return is because almost half of the film's duration features scenes that take place in Springwood and Westin Hills. Additionally, around forty-five percent of the film showcases a road trip that takes the characters to and from various locations, including a not-so-short journey to Crystal Lake. It's worth noting that this percentage also includes a dream sequence or two. Finally, only five percent of the movie is set in Crystal Lake.

Freddy vs Jason can be categorized as a horror film with a road trip theme. However, the movie could have improved if it had been written as a teenage coming-of-age road trip comedy that takes a dark turn.

Had the filmmakers known that the script called for road trip elements, they would have had a much better opportunity to explore this theme and create imaginative ways to incorporate Freddy and Jason into a vast, sprawling road trip story. Although Freddy's Dead briefly touched on a road trip narrative involving Freddy, the filmmakers failed to conceive this idea effectively, resulting in a substandard execution.
