Revisiting the score

 Day 167

April 14th, 2024

My next task is to review the score for the film. I plan on accessing it on Spotify, and I’m hoping for a positive experience. Earlier, I mentioned that the score felt inconsistent when paired with the film. However, listening to the score independently might give me a fresh perspective. It would be pretty interesting if my perception of the score changed after hearing it outside the film’s context.

The way I perceived the score changed after listening to it alone. I found that the music translated better when heard independently compared to when it was played within the film. Despite this, the tense moments were still present, and I could tell where the composers intended to take the music. However, I felt that the score was toned down in the film and wasn't allowed to be an integral part of the story. In my opinion, the film could have benefitted from allowing the score to play a more prominent role in enhancing the overall experience for the viewers.

The musical score of the film lasts for a little over an hour. From what I gathered, the score was somewhat present in the movie but was subdued by the dialogue. However, it effectively conveyed the tension and drama of the scenes. My only concern is that I wished the score had been more prominent in the film's final cut.

Overall

6/10
