Day 23

November 22nd 2023

Day Twenty Three has arrived.

Does Will Know About Freddy?

I feel comfortable saying he did not know about Freddy until Jason came to Elm Street. He was only quarantined because he witnessed Lori’s mom being murdered. It was never established either that he had any prior knowledge.

There is a line of dialogue in which he ruined our pasts. Lori says that near the end of the movie. What is being held back concerning their past? Given her father is the hypno drug pusher, Lori would never know of Freddy. Is their past Lori’s mom dying? Were they the last victims of Freddy, and that’s why he went after her mom. Was Will accusing Lori’s dad of murdering the event that ruined their past? The movie never fleshes out that plot point.

It is never implied that the main cast, except for Mark and those covering up the crimes, had knowledge of Freddy. I still do believe that everything was blamed on Freddy in the town!

Westin Hills Time!

You would think that since Will is close with Mark, he would eventually open up and, at the very least, mention Freddy. The hypnocil probably made him forget.

Only if hypnocil was real…

In the end, Will does contradict what I am saying by admitting that Mark was very knowledgeable of Freddy. So, maybe he did know of him and wasn’t afraid of him.

Then again, early on, Will mentions to Mark, “Don’t start with that dream demon shit.” with that dream demon shit.” (Freddy Vs Jason, 2003). We get the typical Elm Street response, “It’s all in your head.” (Freddy Vs Jason, 2003). Typical response from the town, all in your head.

That alone leads me to change my stance on how Will didn’t know of Freddy, let alone see him as a threat. To Freddy, Will is intense and a danger, whereas preying on the weak and insecure is what Freddy does best.

That also goes along with a theory from early on that Will was the final girl.

I know this is just a movie; unlike many I have seen, this one leans toward interpretation. This movie is whatever you want it to be.

Tomorrow is the what-if day!
