Does sound matter?

 Day 166

April 13th, 2024

Having wasted an hour and a half of my day watching this amazing movie, I have decided to listen to the film's soundtrack. This should take up another hour of my day, and to be honest, at this point, I have nothing to lose. Judging by what I see regarding the bands, I might enjoy the soundtrack more than the film itself.

The soundtrack encapsulates early 2000s rock and metal with bands like Seether, Killswitch Engage, Powerman 5000, and Slipknot, to name a few. Someone I know mentioned that the soundtrack sounds like something that you would listen to in your dad's garage back in the early 2000s. They are not wrong with that assumption.

Well, was my assumption correct?

“How can I live” by Ill Niño

This song is not great. It's a metal power ballad, in my opinion, and was only on the soundtrack to describe the love Will and Lori have for each other. It was also the end-credit song.

“When Darkness Falls” by Killswitch Engage

I get it. We are reborn when darkness falls. For this being Adams mix, I am pleasantly disappointed. I get why the song is on the soundtrack; Freddy and Jason are reborn in the film. I wanted more from the song, but it is the best.

“Beginning of the End” by Spineshank

The mix of this song in the movie was better than on the soundtrack. Next song, please! It is the beginning of the end for many characters in the film, though.

“Sun doesn't rise” by Mushroomhead

The sun doesn't also rise for many characters In the film. I could have gone without this song. It does nothing for

me. It just feels like this song will never end.

“Snap” by Slipknot

I wanted More from this song, given the band. Next!!!

“Army of Me” by Chimaira

The song is okay. I don't see its place on the soundtrack, though.

“The Dinner After Payback” by From Autumn to Ashes

Interesting song title. That is just about it.

“Bombshell” by Powerman 5000

D’von, get the tables!

The wrestling nostalgia hits hard for me on this song. It makes no sense to me that this is on the soundtrack. Lori dropped the bombshell on Freddy and Jason. Best song on this soundtrack!

“Welcome to the Strange” by Murderdolls

Sounds like the anthem of my life. It is another song that seems out of place on the soundtrack, but then I realize that dealing with Freddy and Jason is strange.

“Out of My Way” by Seether

This song can get out of my way. To me, this is Lori’s anthem of the film. She does everything her way, and if you do not like it, get out of her way.

“Inside the Cynic” by Stone Sour

Another great song by a great band!

“Condemned Until Rebirth” by Hatebreed

Another metal Power Ballard song reminds us how strong the bond between Will and Lori in my opinion.

"Leech” by Sevendust

One of my favorite bands. For me, this is a hidden gem that I finally discovered. This song is unrelated to the film, but it's Sevendust. You could put them on any horror movie soundtrack, and you will have elevated That album, in my opinion. If I wanted to relate this to a character in the film, this is Linderman’s anthem.

“Swinging the Dead” by DevilDriver

It's okay; it gets annoying quickly, though. Reminds me of Beavis and Butt-Head for some odd reason.

“The Waste” by Sepultura

This song, to me, is a waste.

“Middle of Nowhere” by The Blank Theory

I feel like I am in the middle of nowhere with every viewing. I wouldn't say I liked this song; I wanted to give it a shot, but in the end, I couldn't. It takes too long to get things started. One line sticks out, and this song is the anthem to the best supporting actor/actress in the film. Hypnocil. They do have to take those pills.

“Ether” by Nothingface

This song exists on this soundtrack.

Things have started strong but are fading fast.

“Trigger” by In Flames

It was an okay entry.

“11th Hour” by Lamb of God

It's a good band, but not a good song imo.

“(We Were) Electrocute” by Type O Negative

It's a lackluster ending song to the soundtrack.

Overall I give the soundtrack a 4/10.

Some songs are good but there are not a lot of them.

I hope I win my eBay auction of the novelization of the film. Something tells me it could be better than the movie.
