Day 183

Day 183 April 30th, 2024 Chapter 10… When the going gets tough, the tough get going… I guess. Lori had her suspicions about Sherrif Williams, and his true motives in all of this would have been a unique spin to the film. It would have highlighted that the group was in peril and could trust nobody. It would have firmly established that it was them vs Freddy and Jason. As expected, it was never established in the film, which goes into the what-if file. What is this new intriguing element to the story? Will’s parents were in on him getting locked away in Westin Hills, claiming he was sick after seeing Dr. Campbell killing his wife. Another ball was dropped between the book and the film. At this point, I am not surprised. Will told Lori precisely what the town did to suppress Freddy. Dope kids and lock them up so that there are no nightmares for Freddy. I do like that they added some suspicion between Lori and Will. Her mom dies, he vanishes and returns, and all of these deaths are now o

Day 182

Day 182 April 29th, 2024 Chapter Nine Frisel gets impaled by Jason but doesn't die right away? I did like how the book went into detail about how Lori dealt with the death of Gibb. Like most things from the book, the movie could have benefitted by showing personal connection and grief. I also liked the encounter with Linderman and Jason. Will saving Linderman by reversing the van into Jason would have been nice to see in the film. Outside of those instances, this chapter is a dud for me. They tried to novelize Jason’s massacre at the rave. To be nice, I will say they gave it a good ole college try. It fell flat to me and did not add anything to the story. The chapter comes to an end as Will, Lori, Linderman, Kia, and Freeberg escape the carnage of the rave and Jason regenerates from being hit by the van, alert and confused.

181 Days In

Day 181 April 28th, 2024 Chapter Eight Not even a full page into the chapter, and they did fucked up yet again. Showing the girls driving to the rave would have been a nice break in the film, but seeing Jason in the cornfield gave the film the sense of danger it needed. Kia getting turned on by the top of a grain silo is a little too much, but I guess we all have our kinks. There was no point in having this in the book. Frisell is the name of Gibb’s potential grapiest.  Seeing Jason’s decayed ribs vibrating to the beat of the bass of the rave is comical and would have been funny to see in the film.  Trey bitching about having a machete shoved up his ass was funny. I had to pause reading the chapter because I did not need a description of what Frisell is seeing in his future victim. This does not age very well.  “all the fun one man can stand without the batteries.” what the fucking fuck. The chapter comes to an end with the Death of Gibb and the scumbag Frisell. Why did they have to

Seven

Day 180 April 27th, 2024 Chapter Seven We are four days away from hitting the halfway mark of this silly little project. On with the next chapter of the book. I am enjoying the book more than the film. Kia got a nosebleed due to her nightmare in the nurse's office. I did like how it was pointed out that signs were in red and green. I also liked how it described the signs as well. I pointed them out in a previous entry. It was nice seeing, in my opinion, some context added to them.  It seems like Mark confirms that Freddy killed his brother. He mentions in the chapter that his brother told not only him but others about Freddy, and then he died. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE DAMN MOVIE!!! Mark also mentioned that his brother knew that Krueger was coming for him. Nobody believed Bobby. Wait what. Mark goes back to thinking his brother committed suicide… Until he had a revelation that Freddy may have killed his brother.  AHS= Freddy’s Children The cover-up begins. The cops want to pin

Chapter Six

Day 179 April 26th, 2024 Chapter Six The chapter starts with Lori finally being picked up from the police station. As a father, Dr. Campbell doesn't care about his daughter and what she went through. Let alone what just happened at the house.  The description of Dr. Campbell drugging his daughter treads lightly. He was even more sneaky, adding the pill to the orange juice, unlike its movie counterpart where they don't rely on the sneaky aspect of his actions. It is evident and blunt.  Of course, her father would be a great person to have around for comfort; he locked her boyfriend away! The anger Dr. Campbell has in Will escaping Westin Hills would have been an excellent addition to the film. The book does a great job of showing the anger he had. Police containment… That has always been the way with Elm Street?!? The book describes how the police always cover up any situation that was to arise on Elm Street by containing it. I smell a cover-up that lasted from 1966 until 2003

Five

Day 178 April 25th, 2024 Chapter five The chapter started with the back story of Westin Hills. There is nothing new there. It was done before in two previous Elm Street films. The book continues playing out like the movie does until we discover that Will doesn't understand why he was locked in Westin Hills. He thinks it is to keep him quiet since he saw Lori’s dad kill her mom. Mark is described as intense in the book, and this quality is portrayed quite effectively in the film, making it an interesting aspect to look out for. I've mentioned this quite a few times. Mark’s brother's name is Bobby. The doctors at Westin Hills say the kids have AHS. Adolescent Hysteria Syndrome. Parents are mentioned again. Mark calls his parents wack. In the book, Mark runs through Westin, creating havoc before he is caught, beaten, and tranquilized. He also is strapped to the bed. In the movie, we don't see him running a lot, beaten, tranquilized twice, and strapped to a bed. There are

Chapter Four

Day 177 April 24th, 2024 Chapter four The book's portrayal of Lori's police station nightmare was quite intriguing. It offered an extended and detailed perspective on the character's experience, which I found quite captivating. However, I couldn't help but feel that the film adaptation missed an opportunity to capture this essence truly. In particular, the shadowy stalking of Lori by Freddy in her dreams, as described in the book, would have added a whole new dimension to the character's fear and the overall threat of Freddy. It's a shame that this aspect wasn't explored further in the film. If Stubbs had taken the initiative to wake Lori up from her nightmare in the film, it could have portrayed him as a considerate and empathetic individual, highlighting the depth of his character and showcasing his caring nature towards others. Such a gesture would have added a layer of complexity to his persona, making him a more relatable and likable character among t

Chapter 3

Day 176 April 23rd, 2024 Chapter three So far, this is following the movie in this chapter. Trey happens to be a germophobe  The film would have benefitted from seeing Gibb slip and fall in the bloody remains of Trey. To me, it would have established Jason as a threat. Seeing Kia, Lori, and Blake discover Trey’s body was a missed opportunity. Another missed opportunity was having Lori say Freddy’s name and then being confronted by a pissed-off Sherrif Williams.  The interaction between Sherrif Williams and his deputies would have added depth to the film. His confusion about why people will not let Freddy be and bringing up the past would have added to his character.  The obsession with that house should have been explained. Omg, the book mentions parents outside of seeing Dr. Campbell and Blake's dad. Wait what! Lori asked Sherrif Williams about Freddy?!? The movie could have benefitted yet again if it had that. Lori telling Stubbs the name Freddy would have been a nice twist in
