Chapter 10… When the going gets tough, the tough get going… I guess.
Lori had her suspicions about Sherrif Williams, and his true motives in all of this would have been a unique spin to the film. It would have highlighted that the group was in peril and could trust nobody. It would have firmly established that it was them vs Freddy and Jason. As expected, it was never established in the film, which goes into the what-if file.
What is this new intriguing element to the story? Will’s parents were in on him getting locked away in Westin Hills, claiming he was sick after seeing Dr. Campbell killing his wife.
Another ball was dropped between the book and the film. At this point, I am not surprised. Will told Lori precisely what the town did to suppress Freddy. Dope kids and lock them up so that there are no nightmares for Freddy.
I do like that they added some suspicion between Lori and Will. Her mom dies, he vanishes and returns, and all of these deaths are now occurring. Will returns with what is a crazy story about being drugged and locked away, writing her letters that were never sent, etc. I can see why Lori would question WIll and his motives.
Lori tying all the problems to the police is a well-needed addition. It would have been a nice bridge to tying the problems to Sherrif Williams.
Lori has trust issues with Will.. why can't this be shown in the film???
So Will and Dr Campbell fight, and Will decks the doctor. Interesting.
Lori is putting the pieces together on the connection between her father and Sheffif WIlliams. They do share a dark secret.
The chapter ends with Lori and Will discussing them being each other's last and only person they will kiss. Why?
