Day one.. Again?

 Day 135

March 13th, 2024

I gladly accepted the challenge to craft a review from the perspective of a first-time viewer. Without further ado, let's dive in!

The day has finally come. After decades of anticipation, we're getting the ultimate Vs movie. We've seen battles like Frankenstein and the Wolf Man, Dracula and Frankenstein, and even Robocop vs the Terminator in video games and comic form. And next year, we'll see two more horror legends enter the fray, Alien vs Predator. It seems like we're in a new horror renaissance, but only time will tell.

Today, I'm watching what will be the first of many viewings of the definitive battle between Freddy Krueger and Jason Vorhees. The trailers looked promising, and I'm putting my money on Freddy. However, after watching the movie, I'm disappointed to say that it's not a Freddy movie or a Jason movie. In fact, it's more like an extended episode of Dawson's Creek that just happens to feature Freddy and Jason. Nobody seemed to be in any real danger, and Jason was a complete joke. Freddy wasn't much better, and the ending was a huge letdown. We don't even get a definite winner!

The movie was built on the promise of seeing Freddy and Jason in a battle, but it was executed terribly. The pinball scene was not funny, and the fight sequence was lackluster at best. Most of the film felt like a subpar 80s after-school special or a bad episode of Dawson's Creek.

What's worse is that they managed to ruin the final girl trope with Lori, who was annoying and over-the-top. Her constant whining and complaining made her unbearable to watch. The movie had so much potential, but it fell flat and failed to deliver on its promise.

Finally, the fact that Jason is afraid of water makes no sense. I understand that he drowned, but what about the lake deaths established in Parts 6 and 7? It feels like the writers ignored what had been established in the lore.

In conclusion, I give this movie a rating of 0.5 out of 5 stars. It's a complete disappointment, and I would not recommend it to anyone.
