Madame Web Review

 Madame Hell

Given the title of this, the post has nothing to do with Freddy vs Jason.

Today, I decided to listen to one of our regulars at work and see another movie they are in love with. He recommended The Beekeeper for weeks, and I finally went and saw it. I wasn't disappointed in that film except for the gaping plot hole and that it's a John Wicktype of film.

His recommendation was the new hit Marvel movie Madame Web. Oh boy, it was a hit, but for all of the wrong reasons.

Where do I start outside of the traditional What the fuck did I just watch? It played like a choose-your-own-adventure movie. You think you are seeing great scenes played out, and then all of a sudden. The rug gets pulled out on you. Oh, let's rewind and show what is going to happen. What we gain in return is something stupid and silly as a result.

I am aware it's in her realm of powers to see ahead and change the future or not. The way it plays out on film is a low light to the film. It is a slap in the face to those who paid their money to see something watchable and, in return, got a subpar thriller masked as a super hero film set in 2003.

The soundtrack was the only good thing in the film.

The worst part of the film to me IMO, was how uncomfortable everyone looked in the film. Sydnee Sweeney looked the most uncomfortable in the film followed by Adam Scott and then Dakota Johnson. I can’t even dwell on that because it is something that must be seen.

Overall I give it a

-1/10

Didn’t keep me interested

Dull, boring at times.

The let’s rewind scenes made things worse.

Actors looking uncomfortable

This made the 2010 A Nightmare on Elm Street look like an award winning film.

Makes Freddy vs Jason look Oscar worthy in comparison.

Tom you let me down!
