Day 96: Let's go do the Hop!

A new revelation to me popped up in this viewing.

Why does Freddy Dream hop to find a vessel that could spread fear thus bringing him back to life? He clearly admits at the beginning of the film that he’s been searching for someone to help him. Given that Jason was the choice, just proved that he can pick and choose anyone. Jason wasn’t afraid of Freddy though, just manipulated by him. Or was Jason afraid of Freddy thus making him easier to manipulate into doing his bidding?

I noticed throughout all of the Elm Street films that It is never explained how he picks and chooses people to begin spreading fear. Yeah, he targets Elm Street, why just that street? I find it hard to believe that those who burnt him alive all decided to move to Elm Street.

Does he work for Monsters Inc. and he opens closet doors until he finds someone scared of him? It’s also never explained why he has this dream-hopping power. Yes, he is a dream demon, but that opens the world up for Freddy to pretty much be everywhere all at once while people sleep.


Are there multiple Freddys? Given the rules laid out that Freddy has to search to find weak-minded people, there cannot be just one singular Freddy. There have to be multiples of him spread out to either find someone to get revenge on for who did him wrong, or new weak-minded people so that he can basically take over the world. Or, do the multiple Freddys just converge into Freddy prime once he finds someone weak-minded to spread the fear of him? If he doesn’t merge into Freddy Prime that would explain why he is able to just return time and time again after the split soul of Freddy dies. The fear makes him last forever. He multiplies like gremlins in the dream world once the fear of him begins.

The movie does touch on Freddy gaining power through fear. Does that also mean he just continues to level up? Going on the multiple Freddy theory no Freddy would be able to power up beyond Freddy prime, which is why he dies all the time. What if Freddy actually won an encounter with teens/adults and killed the group of people he set out to kill? He could literally jump back into the dream realm and find new victims and start the cycle again, or just stay where he is until he dies.

Freddy rises from his ashes like a Phoenix.

I know I’ve talked about multiple Freddy’s in the film before but it was debunked in the commentary, it’s just Freddy leveling up.

November 22nd 2023  Day Twenty Three has arrived. Does Will Know About Freddy? I feel comfortable saying he did not know about Freddy until Jason came to Elm Street. He was only quarantined because he witnessed Lori’s mom being murdered. It was never established either that he had any prior knowledge. There is a line of dialogue in which he ruined our pasts. Lori says that near the end of the movie. What is being held back concerning their past? Given her father is the hypno drug pusher, Lori would never know of Freddy. Is their past Lori’s mom dying? Were they the last victims of Freddy, and that’s why he went after her mom. Was Will accusing Lori’s dad of murdering the event that ruined their past? The movie never fleshes out that plot point. It is never implied that the main cast, except for Mark and those covering up the crimes, had knowledge of Freddy. I still do believe that everything was blamed on Freddy in the town!   Day 21: Pepe Silva's Revenge Tour November 20th, 2023 When we first meet the characters at Lori's house, it is the same scene as in the original when we meet the whole cast for the first time at Tina's house. We get a death, too... The basement scene with Stubbs is their version of the last group session from part 3. The rave scene is a nod to the pool party scene from ANOES 2, which was just replaced with Jason. The movie relies heavily on Dream Warriors, so it was a no-brainer that they did this. Took character traits from Dream Warriors and applied them to the following characters: Linderman is Will from Dream Warriors. The nerdy, awkward character everyone loves but gets annoyed with. He has traits of Joey as well. Freeberg is Taryn. The references are there, so I do not want to elaborate. Kia is Jennifer, except she was never welcomed to prime time or got that nose job.
