Day 95

Day 95

February 2nd, 2024

Another glorious day and another amazing viewing.

The hits keep coming with this movie as my sanity slowly moves towards the abyss. I never thought that doing something on repeat once a day for a whole year would be mentally draining. Most would assume that this should be a breeze, it’s only watching a movie it cannot be that hard. Well, it is.

I should have chosen to dedicate myself to a daily walk for a year versus watching Freddy vs Jason for a year once a day.

After the first week, you want to quit. Seven days seems to suffice for watching a movie once a day. Then day 7 becomes day 14 and in no time you are at day 50. Then day seventy-five creeps up on you faster because logically and mathematically it does. If I have learned anything from this so far, it is that your mind is a precious thing, and you slowly form an addiction. It’s a harmless addiction or is it? It’s a movie it can’t be that bad. People tend to forget that you have to schedule said activity into your daily routine.

Panic can set in as the clock slowly moves forward to the start of the next day. Yes, you can use alternate time zones to justify getting the viewing in for that calendar day. But logically it is cheating. If the activity isn’t completed on that day in your time zone, you didn’t complete it on that day. You need that hit and it has to be that day!

What makes it even more difficult is you have to plan life around the movie. Yeah, it’s only an hour and a half or forty-five minutes sped up. Setting that time aside can be difficult for most.

On a brighter note, today was my 100th log of the film on Letterboxd. Wait what you watched the movie 100 times already! Before the project began I had five previous views logged from Halloween lists or general watching since I joined Letterboxd in 2012. Five more days til we hit this major milestone. Days 31, 50, and 75 were all minor victories.

Tomorrow will mark another unusual watching place. The airplane ride home.
