Why would Jason be in Freddy's nightmare?

We know that Freddy uses Jason as a vessel to return. He felt that he could return because all of the killings Jason did would be pinned on Freddy. That is a brilliant idea, but all logic is thrown out with that idea. Why is logic thrown out? People saw Jason kill people. The only people who saw Freddy kill someone were Lori and Will when Mark died.

They had it right but doubted themselves; with Freddy pulling the strings and needing Jason, instead of focusing on the physical threat, they chose to focus on Freddy.

Again, why would focusing on Freddy make sense? Freddy served Jason up on a platter to the kids when he was tranquilized. They could have dismembered Jason and then concentrated on Freddy if they were logical.

Back to the topic at hand. Why does Freddy assume that Jason was in his nightmare? I think it’s because the whole film is Freddy’s nightmare. Everyone played their part in his nightmare. If we are in his nightmare as suggested, the characters are figments of his imagination—a modern take on past foes.

Jason is simply a part of the nightmare because it is a battle the fans have wanted to see. So, Jason, to me, is just there as an NPC in Freddy’s dream. If Jason is an NPC, so would everyone else.

This was simply a hunch for Freddy to see if this would work as a possible avenue to return to full strength.

Ultimately, it wouldn't have worked because he underestimated Jason, Will, and Lori. Thus giving us the ending we got.

The film would act more as a precognitive dream at its best, using the whole movie as a dream theory.
