Day 22:

Westin Hills Security

Today, I've chosen to focus on one topic due to the perplexing lines of dialogue and unresolved scenes throughout the movie.

Let's delve into the elaborate security measures at Westin Hills.

The extensive security seems excessive. Considering Freddy resides in the dream world, he's not a physical threat. While it's plausible for the protection of Westin Hills residents, why is there a need for such stringent containment? Escapes, if any, would likely appear as suicides.

We're informed that those confinements pose risks to reviving Freddy. Is their level of security somewhat exaggerated?

The four scenes featuring the control room at Westin Hills depict a seemingly overwhelming security setup. The guard reacts as alarms blare due to either Jason or the group breaching security. Later, when Jason attacks, resulting in Stubbs' death, it's almost comical that the Hypnocil—a critical component—is within the security hub.

Observing the room's intricacies, it's as if Westin Hills functions more like a prison than a hospital. The containment strategy for the kids involves drugs, making them a concern only when the Hypnocil wears off after a day. Remarkably, Mark remembered Freddy immediately after the Hypnocil wore off. Will seemed unaware of Freddy, focusing on checking on Lori, assuming her father was involved in another death. Yet, no one seemed genuinely threatening within Westin Hills. One can move about but would be tranquilized and returned to their room without much fuss.

The rationale behind the Fort Knox-style security remains to be determined. It's flawed, allowing both breakouts and break-ins. Jason can easily breach a door. The system meticulously monitors every corner, yet there's only one guard—an interesting choice.

At times, it feels like the town is more concerned about Freddy. Why weren't they confined to Westin Hills if they knew his actions? Did they escape, prompting the institution's overzealous yet flawed security system?

It's perplexing, and understanding it might still need to be discovered.

Tomorrow, we'll explore whether Will had prior knowledge of Freddy.
