Lack of ideas

 Day 219

June 5th, 2024

So, we are led to believe that Jason died as a kid and is now alive as an adult. What makes it worse in the context of this specific film is that he is afraid of water. I understand that, and honestly, as dumb as it may seem, it isn't. Being fearful of what almost or may have killed you for a brief moment seems logical to me.

I found the film lacking in exploring the new ideas and twists that could be introduced in the characters' lore. For example, the concept of Jason being afraid of water could have been further developed to expand on Jason's supernatural lore. It could have been interesting to explore the idea that the lake serves as a source of regeneration for Jason—his personal Lazarus Pit.

In the dream world, Freddy possesses his very own Lazarus Pit, a place of rejuvenation and rebirth. If anyone learns about Freddy and uncovers his past deeds, a sense of fear will be instilled, causing him to be resurrected again.

No matter the circumstances, Freddy and Jason seem unable to meet their demise. Their eternal struggle mirrors an unending project, with each confrontation ending in a stalemate, leaving neither side with the advantage.

Expanding on the lake and crafting a mythology around it would have heightened the film's allure.
