What if Dr. Campbell killed his wife?

We are left to believe that Freddy killed her. What does Freddy gain by killing her? Why did he choose to kill her?

Theory as to why Freddy killed her.

Hypnocil.

He was the prescribing doctor for hypnocil at Westin Hills. Logically, it makes sense for Freddy to start stalking her in the dream world. Freddy probably also knew he wouldn’t prescribe that to his wife, so he took a chance and went after adults again.

Knowing that if he could kill her, maybe that would cause him to quit prescribing the medicine, and then Freddy returns.

That alone gives Freddy the motive, and to be honest, if that was fleshed out in the movie, it would have made it better.

Back to the original question.

Imagine this, you can get away with murder if you kill someone in their bed. Just blame it on Freddy.

I see it this way, she got caught cheating, and to exact some revenge, he did one of two things. Killed or offered her as a sacrifice to Freddy, as mentioned near the end of the basement sequence. Maybe he had no motive and killed her just for the hell of it.

Overdosing those at Westin Hills was his first foray into killing. Some probably died, and some are barely surviving. Dr. Campbell was getting the blood lust. And wanted to commit crimes outside of Westin.

So, to thoroughly plot future crimes, he bought 1428 Elm Street. He was aware of Freddy and became obsessed with him, and to keep doing what he was doing, he had to overdose and keep people on hypnocil, including Lori and her mother.

You can take from Freddy’s Dead the back story of Freddy and weave it into Dr. Campbell’s; he wanted to recreate the past.

He was foiled by Will. Which would explain his hatred and pissed-off looks throughout the movie. Will was told by the police that it was Freddy, even though he did see Dr. Campbell committing the crime. A Skewed confession from Will, with help from Springwood’s finest, got the doctor off, and Will got locked up and drugged.

Freddy grew tired of someone taking credit for his crimes, hence four years of peace. Freddy only came up in name. Think of Doctor Phillip K. Decker from Nightbreed as the inspiration for his character of Dr. Campbell.

That’s just a thought.

Random facts will return tomorrow, and I have so much to say about that hypnocil web page.
