Pacing

Day 240 June 26, 2024 After Trey's demise, the movie gains momentum and maintains a relentless pace until the final act. I appreciate the film's quickened tempo following his departure, but it truly hits its stride after Mark's passing, propelling the narrative to even greater heights. I found the pacing of the movie to be generally steady, although there were some moments that slowed it down, such as the basement scene and the beginning of Jason's nightmare.

Cautionary Tale

Day 239   June 25, 2024 It's interesting to note that in this movie, there is a lack of parental figures apart from Lori's father. This absence of parental supervision raises questions about the role of Freeberg's parents in the narrative. Why would they disclose information about Freddy to him? Perhaps they perceive the entire narrative surrounding Freddy to be inaccurate. Alternatively, they may not fully comprehend the town's concerted efforts to eliminate Freddy. It's also possible that they are not actively involved in the town's plan to combat Freddy. Another possibility is that they possess knowledge about Freddy but are indifferent to the situation. Do they believe that the town's efforts to thwart Freddy are merely a ploy to control the teenagers of Springwood? The fact that Freeberg's parents informed him about Freddy is intriguing. Regardless of whether this information is authentic or fabricated, one would expect individuals familiar with t

Defying the odds!

Day 238 June 24, 2024 Freddy can swim pretty damn fast with one arm.  He and Jason were blasted into the lake from the propane explosion, and yet he was able to make it back to the dock just in time for Will and Lori to feel safe and cozy. This makes no sense on a few different levels. Freddy must have a high pain tolerance to survive losing an arm and being blown up essentially. His dream world powers cease to exist in reality. When did he gain super strength outside of the dream world?  Logically this makes no sense for Freddy to get back to the dock that fast unless he is a fast swimmer, even at a handicap. Movie magic I guess. This movie manages to piss me off it many different ways!

Box office

Day 237   June 23, 2024 After watching thousands of movies and spending the better part of over twenty years in the movie theater business, I feel confident that Freddy vs. Jason was a film designed to have opening weekend success, and that's all.  There is a reason it needed that one-weekend pop: word of mouth tanks or makes films. This is a bad movie, and not bad for the good reasons. While there is charm in the film, it was designed to pop and then die off. Looking over the box office stats of the film, there was a 63.2% drop from week one to week two and a 46.9% drop from week two to week 3.  If you watch the movie critically, you will realize the drop. Word of mouth hurt the film more than likely. Not to mention that the hardcore fans came out on opening weekend and maybe didn't bother to return.  I returned eight times when it was in theaters. Then again, it was free, but the only chance we had was to see Freddy and Jason together in a film. If we knew now what we did n

What nightmares are made of?

Day 236 June 22, 2024 Sadly, Freddy has nightmares about playing human pinball with Jason. Whoever thought this was a good idea to include in the script must have been digging for script filler and may have hoped that it would be great to see on screen.  SMH

Sounds

Day 235 June 21, 2024 This is a short and sweet post. This movie relies too much on sound effects to establish the weapons as real vs a prop weapon.

Sequences

Day 234   June 20th, 2024 I like one edit in the movie and hate one edit. I like the edit when Mark screams for someone to help him. Then we see Will and Lori arrive at his house, driving like a crazed person, wanting to get in the house to save Mark. It's almost edited in the way that they heard his call for help. It was clever and silly, to be honest. The edit I hate comes when we transition to Will and Mark at the library, then get a close-up of the van at Mark’s house, and then the scene cuts to show them in the van. What bothers me about this is the jump cuts and overarching dialog. We are led to believe that this was taking place at the library but not a continuation of their conversation in the van. Considering the conversation started in the day time and ends at night, that adds to the confusion of this sequence. I'm not too fond of the close-up shot at Westin Hills. It seems unnecessary to focus on the pack of cigarettes and lighter in such detail. This shot feels la
