Gremlins 2 Style?

 Day 149

Why is Freddy able to revive the dead?

In the movie, there is a scene where Freddy Krueger manages to enter Jason Voorhees' subconscious mind, where he discovers a way to revive him. It's worth noting that Jason's physical body appears to be in a state of decay, with only his bones visible. There is no sign of any flesh or body tissue, suggesting that he has been dead for quite some time.

My main question is, when did Freddy gain this power?

Why does Freddy have this power all of a sudden? If he has had this all along, that is a true game-changer for his character, and that means he could bring anyone back to life to help him dispose of everyone on Elm Street essentially.

But his newly found powers do not stop there. Freddy can now has the power of possession again. The film does a wonderful job of showing the audience once again that Freddy and body possession still do not work.

It was goofy yet charming to revisit what did not work in Elm Street 2. You had a chance to expand on that and make it work in the realm of the film. The best use of Freddy possessing people could have been done through Dr. Campbell. You had a chance to explore him overdosing on the patients of Westin Hills and, in a way, offering them as a sacrifice to Freddy. Instead of doing what would be logical, the most illogical choice was made. Let's have Freddy possess the stoner. While it provides some comic relief, it doesn't last long and is one of the many dumb choices made in this movie.

At this point, with all of the foolish things that happen in this film, I am starting to convince myself that this is the Gremlins 2  of the Elm Street and Friday the 13th franchises. Unlike Gremlins 2, this film lacks what made that movie work. It was like they threw what they knew about Freddy and Jason at the wall, and whatever stuck, they used with poor context or complete ignorance.

A Charles S. Haas Freddy vs Jason movie would have been better than the Shannon and Swift Freddy vs Jason. That’s a bold statement.
